Tarrezz Thompson
Part-Time Organizer, Caring Economy Organizing Project
With 30 + years of dedicated childcare experience, I've been a cornerstone in the field. Currently serving as the President of AFSCME Union Local 4025 since 2019, my leadership extends beyond. Since 2011, I've thrived as a Program Administrator and Owner of a home-based childcare, fostering a nurturing environment. Certified in trauma awareness by CARE, my commitment to inclusive practices is evident in our recognition as an inclusion program for children with different abilities. An active public speaker and advocate, I champion family stability and Early Childhood Education sustainability in Ohio. Since 2022, I've amplified my impact by collaborating with The CEO Project and Ohio Organizing Collaborative, sharing advocacy work as a grassroots childcare leader and organizer. This enriches my dedication to fostering positive change and sustainability in Early Childhood Education.
Having navigated every facet of early education, from an infant teacher to an instructional aide, before/after school director in a school setting, program administrator, and now owner, my wealth of experience uniquely positions me to understand the comprehensive needs of children and families. From nurturing infants, providing essential support as an aide, overseeing holistic care in before/after school programs as the director, ensuring educational excellence as an administrator, to fostering a home-based environment as an owner – my journey encapsulates the diverse requirements for the prosperity of children and families. I truly believe in the work I do and within the appropriate delivery system, the change we can make for the future.
