Meseret “mez” araya
Climate Program Manager, Ohio Organizing Collaborative
Meseret (Mez) Araya is the Climate Program Manager for OOC. Born in Asmara, Eritrea, he moved to the United States when he was six years old, settling with his family in Columbus, OH.
Mez has had a keen passion for politics and policy from a young age. Due to this passion, he graduated with a degree in Government from Harvard University and later received a JD from Notre Dame Law School. After law school, Mez went to Washington DC to advise on policy for various Members of Congress including Democratic Leader Hakeem Jefrries and former Rep. Andy Levin. Afterwards, Mez worked as a consultant connecting Members of Congress with labor unions and their campaigns.
Mez is now with OOC and will utilize his years of policy and stakeholder experience to help OOC in its overall fight for racial, social, economic, and gender justice. In his spare time, he spends time with his family and is an avid sports and movie buff.
