OOC seeks a data enthusiast to work on our data team for our 2024 voter engagement and organizing programs.
The Data Fellow position is part-time (20 hours/week) through November 2024, with a flexible schedule, including some set meetings and training during business hours and occasional evening or weekend work. This remote role requires computer literacy and the ability to work independently, staying organized and self-motivated without daily office presence. Attendance at in-person training and events in Ohio is necessary, and the fellow must be reachable during working hours for communication with the IVE Director and Data Director. Responsibilities include completing a nightly reporting form to track progress and provide feedback, and having reliable internet access is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Support the organization to track, organize, and regularly update our staff metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure best practices for data collection and recording across programs, civic engagement, advocacy, fundraising, and get-out-the-vote efforts.
Support the Data Director and Integrated Voter Engagement Director to implement impactful plans for large-scale civic engagement and advocacy in Ohio.
Support organizing and voter engagement teams to collect and report quantitative and qualitative data.
Support employee compliance with best practices around data security.
Key Qualifications
Commitment to our mission, with an appreciation for the role of community organizing in social change and movement building
Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, preferably in political or organizing settings
Strong time management and organizational skills, including experience managing multiple projects; ability to work independently, triage, and prioritize among competing projects and deadlines
Familiarity with civic and social engagement
Comfortable working with computers and smartphones. Ability and willingness to learn how to use new software and apps; training will be provided.
Patience and ability to work well with people at a variety of skill and experience levels, including being able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Compensation
$25 per hr / $500 per week
Start date: August 19, 2024.
