Weeklong Community Organizer Training

Leadership Training for Change

At the heart of any successful organizing campaign is the training and development of leadership. Every year, the Ohio Organizing Collaborative (OOC)and its statewide members host training for approximately 100 leaders from the faith and labor community, electoral politics, public officeholders and grassroots leaders who seek to be more effective organizers in their communities, churches, or workplace. OOC’s weeklong training blends the best of traditional organizing models with emerging innovation. This training has been designed and is conducted by top level organizers from Ohio, Michigan, California, Kansas, Minnesota and New York, As well as a variety of national networks including National People’s Action (NPA), People Improving Communities Through Organizing (PICO) and the Center For Community Change. Over the course of a week, leaders are provided with the tools and skills to become more effective at creating transformative change in their community–teaching ordinary people to unleash their capacity to impact the social, political, environmental, and economic decisions affecting their lives.
